AID TO MYANMAR

“Rev Myint Nwe, Yangon, Myanmar”

LOCAL GROUP HELPS SEND AID TO MYANMAR

The following is a re-print of the front page article in InterComm’s local newspaper, featuring the ministry and its ability to help our friends in Myanmar. You can make a difference today in the lives of those suffering right now in this needy country. Please read and respond.

A local organization is providing a way for individuals to send money to aid Cyclone Naris victims in Myanmar (Burma).

The Associated Press reported Wednesday the government of the Southeast Asian country refused to allow aid to be delivered from US Navy ships and helicopters. The refusal follows a pattern of resistance to international aid the military regime has upheld since Cyclone Nargis devastated the country's Irawaddy Delta region May 2 and 3. Last week the Red Cross estimated the death toll to be between 68,000 and 125,000.

InterComm was founded by Ken Anderson Films , Warsaw, in 1991. Lane Anderson, a founding board member and International Director of InterComm, said the organization's primary mission is to equip Christian leaders in countries around the world with Christian media tools. He said InterComm is able to serve as an avenue to respond to the cyclone because of a trusted contact in Myanmar, Burmese pastor Myint Nwe.

Anderson and his wife, Jill, met Nwe on 2 trips to Yangon, Myanmar, for a project dubbing several Christian films into the Burmese language in 1996 and 1997.

"Myint Nwe is a trusted leader who is well known all over his country and with Burmese people around the world," said Anderson. "We know him as a man of integrity who gets things done and is not personally extravagant in any way."

Anderson said he and his wife have been in constant contact with Rev Nwe since their first visit to Myanmar. Anderson said they have personally supported Rev Nwe's work.

After the cyclone, Anderson said he sent Rev Nwe money to help repair some of his extended family's homes which were damaged in the storm.

"He and his family are fine and he is trying to take the remaining funds and help other people any way he can." Anderson said.

Anderson said Rev Nwe will work through a network of pastors throughout the region hardest hit by the cyclone, getting resources to the storm victims to help them rebuild.

Anderson said many of the storm's victims lived in wooden or thatch houses in rural areas before the storms. Most of these people lost everything and need help getting essentials like water, food, clothing, and shelter.

InterComm is a registered 501C3 organization. Donations are tax deductible. Anderson said the aid money will be sent to an account in Bangkok, Thailand, because the government in Myanmar deducts 10% from electronic transfers into Myanmar. Sending the money to Bangkok instead helps keep costs down as it is relatively cheap for Rev Nwe to travel by bus to Bangkok to retrieve the money and carry it back into his country.

Anderson said sending funds to Rev Nwe is "an avenue you can trust to safely send your help gifts to those who need it most in Myanmar."

CAMBODIA LEADERS SELECTED

"Lane & Jill with Cambodia Project Leader, Saul Paul Kes."

Prior to arrival for our Recording Session in Dalat, Vietnam this year, Lane and Jill Anderson met with an interested group of National Leaders in Phnom Penh to discuss a potential future Project for the Khmer Language. The group voted to organize as a Committee and evaluated potential films for recording into their primary language. Not surprisingly, again, PILGRIM’S PROGRESS was their #1 selection.

Currently the Project is on temporary hold until the National Elections take place, after which it’s easier for leadership to plan ahead. More details will be forthcoming once the Committee reassembles this summer. Please do pray for Project Leader and Coordinator, Saul Paul Kes, who has volunteered to head up this effort tentatively planned for the summer of 2009.

OUR LEAKING ROOF

In 1978, the Ken Anderson Films studios, gifted to InterComm in January 2000, underwent a complete remodeling. A steal roof was placed on the building, and this served our needs exceptionally well for over 25 years. Then the roof began to leak. About 5 years ago half of the roof was able to be repaired with a new capping system for our style of roof. This cost a little over $5,000. Since that time, however, the other half of the roof has started to leak and each time the clouds assemble, water buckets are set out to collect the bounty. We don’t have the final estimate for the remaining roof to be repaired, but we expect it to be somewhere between $5 and $7,000. 1/3 of this has already been donated, but we desperately need the remaining monies so we can quickly repair the roof and then make repairs on the inside of the building as well.

If you have the ability to give a special gift over and above your normal contributions to the ministry of InterComm, we would really appreciate your help in this much needed repair.

Thank you as always for making God’s work through media possible through the sharing of your treasure.

MARAMING SALAMAT PO
Thank you very much.

Mr Chito Sace from Nueva Ecija, Philippines upon receiving his Torch Kit, selection of videos, training tools for the Overhead Projector, and additional materials wrote:

“This is to inform you that I have received the package you sent in good condition. Praise the Lord! Yes, I will make sure that we first dedicate these goods for God’s glory before using them, and I will promise that I will use them to the fullest. There is no amount of words that could express my gratitude for having been selected a recipient of these materials, but ‘Thank you’‘. I am certain that your organization and your benefactors have already received in full the terms of your kindness.. Hebrews 6:10. Miraming Salamat Po (Thank you very much).”

JOYOUS OVATION

Rev Kobla Adzei of Accra, Ghana writes:

“It is regrettable that our ministry has had no media showings for the last 2 years. We should have informed you of the difficulties we were facing to include AVangelism into our normal operations. We have started again, and we thank God that all is well now. We traveled into a traditional village area to share Christ through the Torch Kit. With this venture, we have established a new church. The statistical picture in this village may seem very discouraging. There is heavy cult worship in this village, associated with the earth, spirit, thunder, and water gods, whose shrines are under the care of priests. You can only imagine the challenge we are facing. These priests perform rituals which are believed to insure the prosperity of the land and the fertility of the people and their crops. This is a spiritually strong area for the evil one, and many churches have been attempted to be planted here in the past and have failed. Therefore, we are exceptionally thankful to God for having today a church membership of 6 adults, 8 teenagers, and 20 children under the age of 8. We are convinced that the future is bright. With this background, it was with joyous ovation that we received an adult, who made a salvation decision after our 2-day media showing in the old town area. We are not alone. The angels also rejoice. Luke 15:7.”

His Report was 3 showings to 544 people with 1 salvation decision.

OPEN MANY CHURCHES

"Evangelist Paul Nwigbo, Nigeria"

Evangelist Paul Nwigbo of Abakaliki, Nigeria writes:

“I love the great number of people that watch the Torchlight Projector showings. Even adults come, and you cannot believe that they will watch the films, but they watch them all the way through. This Torchlight Projector has helped us to open many churches in the villages. Thank you for your help in this evangelism ministry.”

15 showings to 2,602 people with 605 responding.

HEARTBEAT
by Ken Anderson

(For a period of time, InterComm will be sharing Heartbeats from the Ken Anderson Films era.)

Can the grace and love of God be greater today than it was yesterday? I think so. Not that He changes or increases the measure of His attributes and goodness, but we are admonished to grow in grace and in the knowledge or our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In that sense, the supply of divine blessing can indeed increase as our capacity to receive increases. May God spare us from the stagnation Satan wants to be ours. The settling for the status quo, the stigma of being no more a Christian today than we were yesterday, or a month ago, or a year. Our Lord is changeless - the same yesterday, and today, and forever! As we grow, however, as we daily ask Him to search our hearts to lead us in the way everlasting, our comprehension and experience may indeed become exceedingly above all that we ask or think.
